Hoy se entregan los tan esperados Premios de la Academia, pero como todos los años la noche previa se celebran los Independent Spirit Awards, en los cuales se reconoce lo mejor del cine independiente. En las últimas dos ceremonias hubo acierto a la hora de pronosticar a la que se llevaría el Oscar a la Mejor Película –Spotlight y Moonlight– y en esta ocasión la ganadora fue Get Out, que está en carrera y que podría sorprender al momento de la verdad. También se reconoció a Jordan Peele como realizador y a Timothée Chalamet como Mejor Actor, en tanto que los otros galardones de actuación se repartieron entre los que están cosechando estatuillas desde hace meses y son los grandes candidatos para el evento central. Pero los Independent Spirit Awards tienen un valor todavía mayor que los Oscar a la hora de señalar producciones que la Academia ignora de plano, como la muy buena Ingrid Goes West -si hubiera ganado Patti Cake$ también estaba bien-, los bellos trabajos de The Florida Project o Good Time, la fantástica The Big Sick y más.
