La Academia de Artes y Ciencias Cinematográficas anunció a todos los nominados para la 92º edición de los Premios Oscar, que se celebrará el 12 de marzo de 2023 en el Dolby Theatre de Los Ángeles con Jimmy Kimmel como anfitrión por tercera vez en la historia de la gala.
La carrera por el Oscar de 2023 es una que no viene exenta de sorpresas. Llama la atención el reconocimiento que Triangle of Sadness logró, incluso superando a nombres como James Cameron y Sarah Polley en la categoría de Mejor Dirección, mientras que también se presenta en Mejor Película y Mejor Guion Original. Por otro lado (y la que quizás sea la sorpresa más comentada), Andrea Riseborough logró su primera nominación como Mejor Actriz por To Leslie tras una campaña de último momento que se realizó en redes sociales y donde se sumaron nombres como Edward Norton, Kate Winslet, Gwyneth Paltrow y Marc Maron, ganándole el lugar a otras actrices que parecían nominaciones fijas, como Viola Davis por The Woman King y Danielle Deadwyler por Till. Además, en esta misma categoría se sumó Ana de Armas, cuya interpretación de Marilyn Monroe en Blonde, aunque alabada, estuvo rodeada de controversia.
Por otro lado, y tras ganar el Globo de Oro, Argentina, 1985 parecere la ganadora fija del Oscar en la categoría de Mejor Película Extranjera, donde sonaron fuerte las omisiones de Decision to Leave y Bardo (o falsa crónica de unas cuantes verdades). De igual manera, Top Gun: Maverick no se presentó en el lugar que parecía tener asegurado: el de mejor fotografía, donde su lugar fue ocupado por el siempre impecable trabajo de Roger Deaking en Empire of Light.
